Make the exceptional repeatable.
Most sales training does not stick. Most strategy advice never gets implemented. We exist because we got tired of watching both happen.
The problem we solve
Growth is stuck, because it all runs through a few people.
The founder is the bottleneck
You have a great product or service. But growth runs through the founder's relationships and instinct, and there is no clear way to tell the story or sell it without them. The best salesperson is a person, not a system, so the business can only grow as far as one person can reach.
The pipeline is not moving, and it is not growing
The team is working hard, but the pipeline does not reflect the effort. Deals stall, good months and bad months feel random rather than managed, and nobody can say with confidence what next quarter looks like, because the activity behind it was never made visible or repeatable.
The insight
The problem is rarely a poor product or service. It is the absence of an effective, repeatable commercial system.
How we work
Diagnose the real issue. Find the clear path. Build the rhythm.
We do not arrive with a pre-packaged methodology. We find the actual commercial problem, make the path through it visible, and build the repeatable habits and systems that let your team run it without us in the room.
Diagnose
Understand the real commercial problem by talking to the people doing the work, not just leadership. Most briefs describe a symptom. We find the cause.
Find the path
Agree the few priorities that will drive the greatest impact, and remove the distractions. A clear plan the team believes in, not a document that sits in a drawer.
Build the rhythm
The cadence, the coaching and the accountability that turn a good plan into something the team does every week. We stay until it runs on its own.
Who we work with
Expert-led businesses that need to sell like a system, not a person.
Expert-led firms
Professional services, financial services, and specialist advisory firms where growth has always run through one person's relationships and judgment. Brilliant at the work, but without a repeatable way to win it. We turn what the founder does instinctively into something the whole team can run.
Technical and specialist teams
Senior professionals at consulting, technology and enterprise firms who win on the quality of their thinking and their product, but lose deals they should win because they respond to briefs rather than shape them. Brilliant at the work, but selling it reactively. We turn deep expertise into clear commercial conversations, and build the strategic account skills to reach the right people earlier and make the case with confidence.
What we do
Advisory and capability, scoped to the problem.
Some engagements are advisory. Some build capability in the team. Most are a combination. Every one is shaped by the diagnosis, not sold from a menu.
Sales operating rhythm
Embedded advisory that builds the commercial system behind the team: the pipeline discipline, the coaching cadence, the reporting rhythm that leadership can actually run.
Your sales work becomes predictable, visible, and no longer dependent on you being in every conversation.
Strategic selling for expert teams
For technical and specialist teams who need to move from product-led to relationship-led selling. Consultative and challenger skills built around your real accounts and stakeholders.
Your team reaches the right people earlier and wins the complex deals they were leaving on the table.
Sales capability for expert-led businesses
For founders, partners and senior people who drive the business but were never taught to sell in a structured way. Confidence, process and pipeline discipline, without asking anyone to become a stereotypical salesperson.
The people who know the work best become the people who win it, on purpose rather than by accident.
Sales leadership and coaching
For sales managers and team leaders who are technically strong but need the structured coaching, performance and operating-rhythm skills that lift a whole team.
Your managers develop their people instead of just managing numbers.
Why it works
Built from inside the room, not advised from outside it.
An engagement in practice
The brief was a sales training problem. The solution addressed something deeper.
An independent broadband carrier needed to convert apartment building committees to approve network installation across a national pipeline of more than 100,000 premises, against a low conversion rate and an ambitious target. The diagnosis found the real issue was not training. It was building prioritisation, an unstructured approach to complex committee decisions, and a field team operating on instinct with no consistent system. The work that followed built that system, then built the capability to run it.
Who is behind it
Twenty years of leading commercial transformation, not describing it.
Troon Consulting is led by Simon Troon. He spent two decades inside two of Australia's largest banks, running sales teams, rebuilding contact centres, designing operating models and delivering capability programs across thousands of people.
That is the difference. This is not strategy from the outside. It is the knowledge of someone who has held the number, owned the governance, rebuilt the technology, and then trained the people who had to use it. He knows what a good plan looks like on a whiteboard, and what happens to it by Wednesday.
Straight answers
The questions people actually ask.
The things worth knowing before you get in touch, answered openly rather than left for the sales conversation.
Start a conversation
Let's talk.
Whether someone put you onto us or you came across the work another way, the best first step is the same: a straight conversation about what you are trying to change. No pitch, no obligation. Just a useful discussion about whether this is the right fit.
